Your Practice Today Makes a Difference on the Field

Just ask any athlete. They don’t wait until the day of the game before practicing their moves and strategies. In fact, it takes several painstaking hours, days, weeks, and months of preparation before they face the opposing team on the field.

We find the same thing with Daniel when he faced the 30-day prayer ban of King Darius. Daniel 6:10 gives us the clue:

But when Daniel learned that the law had been signed,

he went home and knelt down as usual in his upstairs room,

with its windows open toward Jerusalem.

He prayed three times a day, just as he had always done,

giving thanks to his God.

Notice the key phrase, “just as he had always done.” See, Daniel did not just start praying when he was faced with the dilemma. He had started way before that trial came. Long before King Darius came into the picture, Daniel had already established a strong prayer life daily. This secret ingredient, if you will, enabled Daniel to stand strong in the trying times – even when he had to face those ferocious lions. For a man or woman who kneels before God in prayer can stand up to anything or anyone.

It’s not too late to start cultivating your personal time with God. Start today.
