Don’t Walk Life Alone

Our culture highly celebrates individualism. Nothing wrong with knowing who you are as an individual, but when that hinders you from doing life with people who will build you up and encourage you to be all who God created you to be, false sense of identity can creep in.

God did not intend for us to be lone rangers. Nope, not even the most introverted person who gets re-energized by being alone. From the dawn of creation, Genesis 1:26 and John 1:1, 14 show how we are made in God’s image – “our” being (God the Father as Creator, Jesus as the Word, and the Holy Spirit as the One hovering over the waters). God is not just passionate about community, He Himself is community.

We see God’s love for community take flesh as He created Eve to be Adam’s companion because it was “not good for man to be alone” (Genesis 2:18). Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 further shows us the value of being with others:

Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed.

If one person falls, the other can reach out and help.

But someone who falls alone is in real trouble.

Likewise, two people lying close together can keep each other warm.

But how can one be warm alone?

A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated,

but two can stand back-to-back and conquer.

Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.

It’s never a one-man show. Every victory is sweeter when won with God and community. That’s why we are launching our small groups on the week of August 20th. Everyone is welcome! We mean everyone. Contact us now for more information.

Don’t walk life alone. Get plugged in a community, a local church, or a small group whose heart is to honor God first and others next. After all, you become who you hang out with. Choose well.
