No, I do not wish to give you a gospel tract, although with my whole heart I would love for every reader to give their hearts to Jesus – it’s the greatest decision and adventure of all!
Going back to the Roman Road. During the first century, the Romans had a vision – for all roads to lead to Rome. And so, they built roads everywhere they went. The rural community, the suburbs, the city. Name it, they had got a road in it.
It was at that time that the Apostle Paul embraced God’s call in his life to carry the life-giving message of the Gospel to the world. And he did! It was a great task. After all, Paul did not have Facebook to post his sermons on. He did not have the ability to tweet one-liners to the world. Nations were at stake. And he needed an avenue far bigger than what he was accustomed to.
His method? The Roman Road. He could have settled for a synagogue and taught God’s Word there. Or he could have just preached in Jerusalem, Gentiles (or foreigners) still flocked there. Throughout his ministry, scholars suggested that Paul walked a total of 20,000 miles on these pavements. Paul used the method of his day to reach as many as he could during his lifetime. It was built by an empire foreign to the message he preached. It had a vision different than his. But it was a vehicle to reach as many as he could. He maximized it.
And the world was never the same again.
What is the Roman Road right in front of you today? It may be different from what you’re used to. But check it out and try it. The methods may change. But the message you bring will yield the same result – changed lives.
